The Weather Channel and InsideClimate News have released a 10-minute video, “BOOM – North America’s Explosive Oil-by-Rail Problem”, that discusses the implications of using railways as pipelines. Lac-Megantic is central to the discussion but there is mention of American accidents and ongoing attempts to minimize the chance of a similar disaster. It’s not promising.

Excellent video!
The phase out of dot 111’s is a good move forward. On the ground we are already seeing policy changes by the railroad already such as the requirement of derailers when cars are left unattended and required inspections of all oil trains at each meeting.
