I still haven’t seen my letter to Council posted as part of the agenda package. I hope that a response is forthcoming. The letter asked about the expected taxation status of the proposed DSSAB development on Waubeek Street (link).

There are a few items that caught my attention:

4.1 – Norah Fountain, Executive Director, Muskoka Lakes Chamber Bord of Directors. Support for Seguin Township’s Application for MZO
Someone is smoking that stuff the Feds recently legalized. It of course looks great if someone else carries the associated expenses. Now if Seguin wants to build the necessary infrastructure I’m all for it. I offered an analysis of what that means in a recent post (link).

9.2.1 – Server Replacement – Tenders Approval.
Is there any reason why we are not considering a cloud type option? A client of mine who has much more demanding 24×7 needs depends on a cloud supplier to host multi terabytes of data to service their thousands of clients. Their supplier is now upgrading the servers and my client has no capital outlay or migration responsibilities. The recent issues with AWS is the exception and even then things were up and running within hours. There is also a level of security that these cloud providers deliver. Just asking. I did not see it as an option in the R&R discussion.

9.2.2 – OGRA Delegation Request re: Winter Road Salt Transportation impact on Municipal Infrastructure.
Let’s start discussing this openly. It is another one of the many unappreciated benefits we provide our neighbours at Town of Parry Sound taxpayer expense that is taken for granted.

9.5.1 – Donation to Red Cross for British Columbia Emergency Aid.
I think we can do better if we really care. The donation proposed by the Town is pretty much the same as my wife and I make to each of several deserving organizations in town. It amounts to less than a dime per resident. Lead, follow, or ignore, but please don’t pretend to care. Every dollar we give is being matched. I wish that this also applied to our local charitable organizations.
