The last couple of days has seen a big jump in the number of trains rolling through Parry Sound. Most of the trains are carrying freight containers. I suspect these are Christmas goodies heading to retailers and wholesalers from Asia. Makes sense: goods are shown in the late spring/early summer where orders are booked, goods are manufactured over the summer and early fall, the goods are then put on boats in October, shipped across the Pacific, unloaded in BC and then shipped east by rail.
The rush should be over in a couple of weeks.
