What seemed a not too interesting agenda revealed at least one interesting tidbit, Item 9.4.1. There is also an IT report regarding GIS, Item 9.2.2 that will be interesting to some. The GIS report is available as part of the full Agenda Package available at the Town’s website.

9.4.1 – Provincial Actions to Expedite Residential Planning Approvals.
The interesting point from my perspective is the note in the full Agenda Package Report & Resolution that the Town has been removed from the oversight of the Parry Sound Area Planning Board. This allows Town Council to have the final word on Town related planning related consents and severances. The Province has also permitted the Town to amend its Official Plan. I believe the Town was a little frustrated by some of the decisions made by the Area Planning Board which is largely composed of members that do not have ‘urban’ experience or concerns. This should make residential planning approvals in the Town a little smoother. (The resolution’s mentioned report “providing the comments contained in the following report” was not part of the full Agenda Package. I’m not sure it is of particular importance or interest.)
